Bah. Don’t have a helmet after all.

The place where I ordered the Scorpion EXO-700 Red Rivet Helmet (Extreme Supply.com) apparently didn’t actually have it. I placed my order on Saturday, and have been patiently waiting for a shipment notification. It kept not clearing my bank account, and so I called yesterday to find out why it hadn’t shipped yet. (I’d also been checking the website to see if they’ve taken the helmet off, but the website still lists the helmet as in-stock – even today.) The guy I spoke with said his computer wasn’t working, and said he’d have to take my name and number and call me back in 10-15 minutes after he found out what was wrong.

He never called me back. I did some searching around online and found a lot of people complaining about ExtremeSupply.com – saying that they were never notified that items were out of stock, and had issues with payments clearing the bank account and then not getting the order, etc. So I started to get a little leery of the site.

I did get a phone call back today (a few minutes before they opened – I had the email poised with the phone number and order ready to call back as soon as they opened) saying that the helmet was out of stock and that they’ve canceled my order.

Even though the website *still* says the helmet is in stock. And after they’d promised to call me back within 15 minutes, but called me back 24 hours later. And only because I called them in the first place. I wonder how long they would have waited to notify me if I hadn’t followed up?

So now I can’t get the helmet I want in the color I want. I’ve had to order the Scorpion EXO-700 Rivet Matte Silver helmet from Sport Bike Track Gear – same helmet, different color, different seller.

Hopefully it’s not out of stock at Sport Bike Track Gear, too, because this is a closeout helmet. It’s a pretty good mid-range helmet at like half the price, and I was counting on getting it in this price point. I’m going to be annoyed if the delay while waiting to hear back from ExtremeSupply.com has cost me getting this helmet in any color at this price.

Not a big fan of the silver, by the by, but Masukomi will probably say it’s better than the red because it’s lighter. I’ll still have to put reflective tape on it, though.
